I've decided...

...that I'm gonna make this a picture blog. At least for a while. I'll try to take pictures every day of this year, if not, pictures of things that I find interesting on certain days. See how long this project will last.

I'm excited!

Unproductive

I just woke up now and I hate the feeling of having woken up late and missing the first part of the day. I mean, it's not like there's anything I have to do today, but I just feel unproductive.

I need to go see this dorama I rented Hanayome to Papa. Not because I'm keen on seeing it, but because I need to return it soon, you see.

Midnight ramble

I hung out tonight at V's place; there were B, D and Ceuceu, as well as Amar and Tanno. We got together to watch "Transamerica" and then sat around for a bit of talk and some drinks. It was nice, clean fun tonight.

I need to go and rest for the whole day tomorrow. It's my last day off before I have to work on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They're not extremely long hours, but I know I'll go nuts from having to see the same place every day for 7 days.

But that also means money, which is always good. I'm planning to save up a lot this year, especially since there's the possibility that K, A, L and I are going to Japan this September. On top of that, my cousin and I have already planned to go around Indo between July and August. Well, I'm hoping to get a bit of financial boost for that trip from my lovely grandparents, so if that happens, technically I need to just save up for Japan.

I am shit-tired. I'm gonna go and get some sleep now then.

Here's to 2009

So it's the new year already, and it's been a funny first week of 2009.

I slept through the New Year's countdown, so I had at least enough rest before working on the New Year's Day.

Then on the 3rd, I went for a road trip with my parents and B and D. That combination of participants was funny enough, but then D had a massive motion sickness halfway through the drive and he had to take anti-nausea tablets before making our way home. I took one too cause I also got sick from looking at D being sick. Either way, we had fun checking out the sights, though.

On the 5th, I had a friend's party and being the ass that I am, I bought a dress especially for the occasion - on the same day. It wasn't an expensive dress, though, and I think it's pretty so I guess I'll be able to wear it for a couple of times.

The next day, my friends and I went to the beach but we only managed to stay there for about 2 hours because cold wind started coming and we had to pack up before we got blown away to the middle of the sea.

And finally, today we saw Twilight and I wanted to laugh and cry at the same time. It was - I'm sorry - one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The action part was fine, but the romance part? You could tell it was written by some crazy fanfiction geek. "You're my personal brand of heroin"? Pfft. Please. Even my ass can come up with something better than that.

I can't wait to see what else 2009 will bring for me.

"Sober"

I really like this song right now...

PINK - "Sober"

I don't wanna be the girl who laughs the loudest
Or the girl who never wants to be alone
I don't wanna be that call at four o'clock in the morning
'Cause I'm the only one in the world you know that won't be home

Ah, the sun is blinding
I stayed up again
Oh, I am finding
That's not the way I want my story to end

I'm safe up high, nothing can touch me
But why do I feel this party's over?
No pain inside, you're my protection
But how do I feel this good sober?

I don't wanna be the girl that has to fill the silence
The quiet scares me 'cause it screams the truth
Please don't tell me that we had that conversation
'Cause I won't remember, save your breath
'Cause what's the use?

Ah, the night is calling
And it whispers to me softly, "Come and play"
But I, I am falling
And if I let myself go I'm the only one to blame

I'm safe up high, nothing can touch me
But why do I feel this party's over?
No pain inside, you're like perfection
But how do I feel this good sober?

Coming down, coming down, coming down
spinning round, spinning round, spinning round
I'm looking for myself, sober

When it's good, then it's good, it's so good till it goes bad
Till you're trying to find the you that you once had
I have heard myself cry, "Never again"
Broken down in agony, just trying to find a friend, oh

I'm safe up high, nothing can touch me
But why do I feel this party's over?
No pain inside, you're like perfection
But how do I feel this good sober?

LM.C

I've been listening to LM.C's stuff again, after not having done so for a while. They're a duo from Japan who specialise in electro pop-rock or as they'd like to call it, "new century electro-rock". Their guitarist is Aiji from the now-deceased popular rock band PIERROT and the vocalist Maya has done some work in the past with popular solo artist Miyavi.

In the span of time that I haven't followed their activity, their website has been translated into 4 languages; they're set to play Taiwan, Korea, Brazil, Chile and Europe next year; they've been featured in foreign publications, both online and print; and they've allowed their international fans to pre-order tickets for their Japanese dates. Not bad at all for a band who has just become active a mere 2 years ago.

I recommend:

"Tonight...I'm a rock 'n' roll star!"

Here's a confession: I love rockstars.

I know it's something so cliche, and anybody who knows me knows that I'm a sucker for band boys. But there's something magical about the idea of rockstars. I don't just mean being dressed in leather jackets, skinny jeans and having the eternal bed hair. There's so much more about being rockstars - it's probably the romanticism of having so many followers screaming your name; of having blogs that aren't just gonna be read, but drooled over by fans; and the classic one, to have your pictures taken everywhere you go. Celebrities have that too, but when you're a rockstar, you have this automatic 'cool' status given to you, even when you're caught picking your nose publicly.

And no matter what you wear, the 'cool' stamp is still there. If you wear a Christmas snowflake jumper but everyone knows you play guitar/drums/bass guitar/tambourine in some band, people will still wanna get down on their knees and kiss your rockstar boots.

It's just such a fascinating concept. I would say The Beatles started this whole rock 'n' roll euphoria, but then again, Zeus from the Greek mythology was loved by a lot of women, so maybe he could have invented the rockstar status. So where did this all begin?
